Corporal Eldred Harman

Corporal Eldred Harman recieved training as a Military Policeman, and then volunteered as a guard at Camp Algona. He spent much of the last half of 1944 and early 1945 in Algona as a guard. Part of his duty was to assist PWs in growing a garden on soil that had been severely compacted during construction of the camp. In 1945 he was transferred to Europe where he continued to serve as a guard of prisoners of war, returning to the United States in late 1946.
